What Types of Video Conferencing Services are there?
There are two types of video conferencing services, including regular and multipoint. The regular system can be used for large or small groups as well as individuals and are further broken down in methods of video conferencing, including non-portable, portable and desktop. The multipoint system is specifically designed for linking three or more different locations for conference calls that may well span across a city, country, continent, the world or beyond.
All video conferencing services require basic components to make them work, especially for larger/smaller business groups and rooms, including video cameras, a console, the controlling computer, multidirectional microphones, a main screen, loudspeakers and software. However, more simple versions can be found for individuals through the use of laptops and computers that either have built in or added in microphones, one screen, speakers and/headphones. Such smaller alternatives replace the need for all the technical equipment required by bigger groups, multiconferencing systems or even large or massive room sizes. Generally, the rule of thumb is that services for larger groups and smaller groups in businesses use non-portable devices which can range from low to high prices dependant completely on the capability of the equipment used. For individuals, the options include portable and non-portable as desktop computers have inexpensive equipment built in or added on for considerably less than the cost for larger or smaller business needs, and with the advent of laptops, the system has become transportable anywhere on the planet. Multipoint systems connect several calls from multiple locations with advanced software that allows multiple people to be seen on a screen simultaneously.
